Salome Machaidze

Salome Machaidze is a Georgian artist and filmmaker based in Berlin, Germany. She studied Stage Design at the Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Arts beginning in 1993 and graduated in 1995 with a degree in Fine Arts. In Georgia, she held several solo exhibitions and was a member of the artist collective GOSLAB. She also worked as a set designer for the Film Actors Theatre and was actively involved in the controversial contemporary art movement in Georgia during the Perestroika period of the 1990s.

After relocating to Germany, Machaidze graduated from the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) in 2000 with a degree in Visual Communication. In 2002, she began postgraduate studies in Experimental Media at UdK, earning her Master’s degree in 2005. Her thesis project, the feature-length experimental film Trigger Tiger, was screened at the Volksbühne Theatre in Berlin.
